The Theatre Ritual Forms Research Studio wasestablished in 2000 by Romana Ercegovic with the purpose to research ritual roots of many different cultures of the world and to find her own way of forming a ritual as a theatre performance. Her first project was poetical-theatre performance Prayer to the Earth (premiere 6th of June 2000 in the Theatre Ptuj). The next project of the studio is Electra (premiere 15th of October 2001, co-production with Theatre Ptuj). The third ritual theatre performance White Buffalo Woman was created in 2003 (premiere 16th of August, in the national park Sturmovec). When White Buffalo Woman was presented, the Theatre Ritual Forms Research Studio developed into the Ritual Theatre “Soul of the Earth”. Romana Ercegovic is artistic directress, authoress of the scenarios of the performances, stage directress and performeress . Electra and White Buffalo Woman were also part of her master degree study process at LesleyUniversity in Cambridge, MA. Creative processes of both performances as well as theoretical foundations of her vision of the ritual theatre are described in her thesis Ritual Theatre in a Feminine Way. Besides
performances, a book of poetry and an audio CD Prayer to the
Earth in Slovene language (November 2005) were created as well. Co-creators of the theatre are artists from Slovenia and the USA, among them musician Bostjan Jurjevcic, graphic designer Darko Ferlinc, photographers Stojan Kerbler and Miha Zabret, costume designeress Stanislava Vauda-Bencevic, web-side designer Sasa Javoric and others.
